CEO, Power Edison & Clean-Tech Investor/Entrepreneur
Dr. Kuran is an investor, serial entrepreneur and a seasoned executive in the global semiconductor, power and cleantech sectors. He founded and ran several private companies and served as an executive/board member at six public companies. He led companies in the start-up stage and managed global organizations. In semiconductors, he developed a business that became the sole supplier to Intel as they launched their coveted Centrino platform. In the cleantech space, he founded and ran Petra Solar where he developed leading-edge technologies and launched the largest solar project in the world in 2009. Prior to founding Power Edison, he served as the President of Strategic Development at NRG. Before joining NRG, Dr. Kuran served as the President of Advanced Solutions at Sun Edison. He was named by Greentech Media as one of the “100 people you must know in Smart Grid in 2012.” In 2011, he was named by NJBIZ as one of “The 100 most powerful people in New Jersey business,” and his company, Petra Solar was awarded the American Technology Award in both Smart Grid and Clean Tech. In 2010, E&Y recognized him as the NJ Green Tech Entrepreneur of the Year, and Fortnightly Magazine named him as a “top guru” in the solar industry. His efforts are fueled by a vision for a peaceful world with universal access to clean and sustainable sources of food, energy and water. He serves on the Advisory Boards of the Charles Edison Fund, the Edison Innovation Foundation and at The Rothman Institute of Entrepreneurship at FDU. He served as a Board Member of the NJTC and an External Advisory Board Member of Rutgers Innovation Park. Dr. Kuran holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the City University of NY and an Executive Management degree from Harvard Business School. He is an inventor and has published over 40 papers.

Director, Center for Energy, Economic & Environmental Policy
Frank Felder is an expert in energy policy and electricity markets. His research and teaching interests include the reliability and economics of electricity markets, state energy policy, energy efficiency and renewable energy evaluation, and integrated energy modeling. He has been awarded numerous research grants by the National Science Foundation, the U.S. Department of Energy, the U.S. Department of the Interior, the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities, and the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection. He holds doctoral and master degrees from MIT in Technology, Management and Policy and completed his undergraduate studies at Columbia College and the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences.

Academic Director, Center of Urban Entrepreneurship & Economic Development
Jeffrey A. Robinson, Ph.D. is an award winning business school professor, international speaker and entrepreneur. Since 2008, he has been a leading faculty member at Rutgers Business School where he is an associate professor of management and entrepreneurship and the Academic Director of The Center for Urban Entrepreneurship & Economic Development. The Center is a unique interdisciplinary venue for innovative thinking and research on entrepreneurial activity and economic development in urban environments. He is the co-author along with Dr. Randal Pinkett of Black Faces in White Places: 10 Game-Changing Strategies to Achieve Success and Find Greatness. Through his research, business ownership and community activities he makes direct impacts entrepreneurship and economic development policy and practice in the state of New Jersey and beyond. Dr. Robinson is an accomplished scholar. His research specialty can be described as the being at the intersection of business and society. His work addresses community and economic development issues for urban metropolitan areas in the United States and abroad. He has grant funded research projects on high growth oriented African American women entrepreneurs and early stage social entrepreneurial ventures. He is the co-editor (with Johanna Mair and Kai Hockerts) of the research volumes Social Entrepreneurship International Perspectives in Social Entrepreneurship, and Values and Opportunities in Social Entrepreneurship. Dr. Robinson is a 3rd generation entrepreneur. He is the co-founder of BCT Partners, a multi-million dollar firm that provides management, technology and policy consulting to non-profits, foundations, corporations and various government entities as they plan and implement change strategies and improve organizational effectiveness. Through BCT he has worked on numerous community technology and community building projects in the New Jersey, and the cities of New York, Baltimore, and Atlanta.

Daniel Reji is the founder of SafeHalo, a social venture focused on reducing sexual assaults on university campuses. He is also the founding partner of Friends, Guests, & Lovers, a multi-disciplinary creative agency working with startups to develop engaging brands.

Founder & CEO, ChampAmerica
Heather is the Founder and CEO of ChampAmerica. Born and raised in Beijing, China, Heather came to the U.S. for graduate school upon completion of college in China. She started with the Enterprise Risk Services Group at Deloitte, and later moved on to the Finance and Regulatory Risk functions within several investment banks including Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan, and Barclays. She has been a key member of the Finance Recruiting teams and has developed an extensive career network. Heather holds an MBA from Georgetown University. She is a professionally trained French Chef from the International Culinary Center (ICC) in New York and is passionate about fitness and travel.

For over 20 years, John has led large company wide change initiatives on a global basis, from design through implementation. Many of these new initiative resulted in new products and service winning awards for creativity, innovation, and design. John has in-depth expertise in business design, business operations, technology, high scale systems, and human development. Prior to starting Winning Dynamics in 2010, John was a Director for Citigroup, responsible for implementing global systems and working with and managing people on a global basis. He worked from product inception, design, implementation, and training through post implementation sustainability for over 28 years. The majority of his work was associated with innovation and breakthroughs in customer service and delivery. John is a sports enthusiast with a special passion for tennis. He is a life long learner and studies adult development within the Integral Theory framework. He lives outside of NYC with his wife, 2 sons, and daughter.

Hasan Usmani has exemplified remarkable creativity and commitment through his efforts, both on and off campus at Rutgers University. He has a selfless compassion and unique perspective, that led him to aid in the creation of Roshni Rides, an eco-friendly transportation service enabling refugees to travel with ease and affordability - Winning the 2017 $1 Million Hult Prize. He also served as a leader with the Muslim Student Association, mentoring and guiding students. He was the co-President of Rutgers Jum’ah & Prayer Space, for which he organizes weekly congregations of more than 200 students and recruits inspirational speakers.

Scientist and STEM Outreach Advocate, Johnson & Johnson
With ten years of professional industry experience in Biotechnology, Pharmaceutical R&D, and Drug Delivery and Device development, Suna is a proactive advocate for STEM educational outreach. Recognizing the lack of access and exposure to resources and opportunities for learning, development and innovation, Suna founded and currently leads Janssen R&D’s hands-on Science & Technology Youth Mentoring Afterschool program. In partnership with Big Brothers Big Sisters, the outreach program also supports bi-weekly visits to industry lab facilities and features Janssen’s professional scientists and engineers who foster year-long 1:1 mentoring relationships with participating students in the greater Philadelphia metropolitan. Suna is also the Chair of the R&D Leadership Chapter of Johnson & Johnson’s African American Leadership Council which supports STEM educational achievement, R&D professional advancement, and healthcare advocacy for the African diaspora and underrepresented minorities. She received a dual Bachelor’s in Biomedical Engineering and Biology from George Washington University, and her Master’s in Materials Science & Engineering from Johns Hopkins University. Her own personal achievements and successes fuel her dedication to empower youth, families and communities to cultivate generations of unique problem-solvers, equipped and prepared to deliver today’s and tomorrow’s much needed solutions.
